I have one question which need your help. Can I use a traveler’s paper or Emergency Passport instead of Original Passport to apply for a visa to Vietnam?

There are 2 ways to apply Vietnam visa for Canadian citizens, including Vietnam Embassy Visa and Vietnam VOA (Vietnam Visa on Arrival). Both of them require your original passport to complete your visa application process.
So you can’t use any alternative documents such as Traveler’s paper or Emergency Passport to apply for a visa to Vietnam.
If you currently still possess your passport and fear of losing it during visa application process, we recommend you choose Vietnam VOA to get visa application done online. By this way, you don’t need to send the original passport away just like you have to do when applying visa through Vietnam Embassy in Ottawa or in any other embassy/consulate of Vietnam.

If you have just lost your passport and plan to travel Vietnam in the near future, you should renew your Canadian passport through the Government of Canada or any other agencies for urgent request.
