I’m going to Vietnam flying from Manila, Philippines. I will be staying in HCMC in 17 days. I read somewhere that above 15 days I need a visa to Vietnam, but I also heard from some friends that Danish, Norwegian and Swedish citizens don’t need to have Visa to Vietnam. Please Confirm. Phil.

Dear Phil,

Please be informed that, as a citizen of Denmark, you are NOT REQUIRED to get a visa for Vietnam for maximum 15 days in Vietnam if:

  • You have never been in Vietnam, or have never been in Vietnam with visa exemption; OR
  • In case you have been in Vietnam with visa exemption, your arrival date this time should be at least 30 days from the exit date of your last stay in Vietnam with visa exemption.

In case you

  • wish to stay in Vietnam for more than 15 consecutive days, ie. 17 days in your case, or
  • your arrival date this time falls within 30 days from the exit date of your last stay in Vietnam with visa exemption,

you NEED to get a valid visa to enter Vietnam.

You can see full guide on Vietnam visa for Danish citizens here.

Hopefully this answer is clear to you.
